Magnitude 5.0 Quake Hits Chile’s Northern Coquimbo Region
A magnitude 5.0 earthquake has occurred on the coast of Chile, in the northern region of Coquimbo, the US Geological Survey (USGS) informs.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The quake hit at around 23:11 GMT on Friday, at a depth of just over 28 kilometers (17 miles), USGS said.
The National Seismological Center of the University of Chile (CSN) put the earthquake’s magnitude at 5.2, saying on Friday that it was also felt in the coastal region of Valparaiso.
There were no immediate reports of damages or casualties.
