MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the NRK broadcaster, the disaster took place in Svalbard’s largest settlement of Longyearbyen on Saturday morning.
One person has been confirmed head and several people have been hospitalized, with their injuries ranging from minor to critical. As many as 10 homes have been damaged by the avalanche.
Nobody has been reported missing, according to the media outlet. Search and rescue crews were working at the scene.
Other media outlets reported that dozens of houses have been evacuated in the Arctic archipelago.
