BERLIN (Sputnik) — The climate conference, also known as COP21, is expected to gather more than 130 heads of state and government who will discuss a deal to cut carbon emissions. The summit will begin on Monday and run until December 11.
"Paris will be a litmus test for leaders’ ability to resolve environmental problems faced by the world," participants of the climate march said before they set out from the central railway station, as cited by a RIA Novosti correspondent.
The march will end in a concert in inner city, organized by local and international world protection agencies, including Greenpeace and WWF. Berlin police expects up to 15,000 people to turn up for the event.
Hundreds of thousands of people around the world were to hold demonstrations in some 150 countries around the world to turn up the heat on world leaders to reach an agreement outlining long-term climate goals.
