The hail storm in Australian city of Brisbane has reportedly left thousands of homes without power.

MOSCOW, November 28 (Sputnik) – The hail storm that hit the Australian city of Brisbane on Thursday has left thousands of homes without power, ABC News reports Friday.

According to the media outlet, 120 crews are working to restore power for those who are still without electricity.

"Over the night we managed to get power back to about 40,000 customers so some work's been able to be achieved but there's a lot of work ahead," representative of the Australian energy company Energex Graham Metcalf said as quoted by ABC News.

Metcalf added that the storm left over 90,000 homes without electricity across Brisbane.

The hail storm that broke across Australian south-eastern state of Queensland on Thursday, is considered the worst thunderstorm the country has seen in a decade, with hail reaching the size of tennis balls, meteorologists say. According to the reports, the storm left 12 people injured and caused transport delays in Brisbane, while the estimated damage is likely to exceed $100 million.
