Over 260 people have been killed so far during the 2012 monsoon season across India according to the federal Home Ministry.

 

Meanwhile, over 170 sheep were killed in China's northwestern Xinjiang autonomous region during a thunderstorm, local media reported on Friday.

 

Over 24,000 people are killed by lightning strikes and 240,000 are injured every year across the world, according to the 2008 International Lightning Detection Conference in the United States.
