Peruvian policemen detained a light aircraft supposedly en route from Bolivia to Mexico with a cargo of almost 350 kg (over 770 lbs) of cocaine, Mexican media reported.

A Cessna light plane flying from neighboring Bolivia performed an emergency landing on one of the illegal landing stripes in the Peruvian province of Pasco.

A group of drug dealers escorting the cargo at first put up an armed resistance against the policemen, but then dropped weapons and fled the scene. Police later searched the aircraft and discovered 12 plastic containers with 349 wraps of cocaine, each weighing one kilogram.

This is not the first time, when an aircraft technical malfunction, helps to stop drugs that are brought to the United States from the countries of Latin America via Mexico. In May this year, a light aircraft crashed in Ecuador carrying $1.5 million intended for the purchase of cocaine.
