Coffee titan Starbucks has announced their intentions to hire 10,000 refugees worldwide over the next five years. Immediately, several announced their intention to boycott Starbucks.

Given reasons included anti-refugee sentiments and a distaste for the corporation's executives using their platform to make a political statement.

#BoycottStarbucks provoked a countermovement, #BuyStarbucks to celebrate the company's decision. Howard Schultz, the architect behind Starbucks's ubiquity and its CEO from 1988-2016, is an vocal liberal and progressive who actively supported Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election.
