12:27 GMT 25.06.2015 (Updated: 14:50 GMT 25.06.2015) The ВВС became the first Western media outlet to interview ex-Ukrainian president Yanukovych since his overthrow in February 2014, although they inexplicably left out the most important parts in their English translation.
According to a BBC spokesperson, Yanukovych's views on Crimea's 2014 reunification with Russia were omitted because they weren't considered "most newsworthy." The interview, however, instead featured remarks by the Ukrainian ex-president on ostriches he maintained in his residence's zoo.
