Gazprom Increases Gas Exports to Non-CIS States by 12.6% in January-July 2017

In the first seven months of 2017 Gazprom's exports volume to non-CIS countries increased by 12.6 percent, compared to January-July 2016, according to official statement.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's Gazprom energy company exported 12.6 percent more gas to non- Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) states in January-July 2017, compared to the same period last year, while the total exports volume amounted to 110.8 billion cubic meters (approximately 3,912 billion cubic feet), the company said Tuesday.

"In the first seven months of 2017 Gazprom's exports volume to non-CIS countries increased by 12.6 percent, compared to January-July 2016. In absolute terms the growth amounted to approximately 12.4 billion cubic meters. In total, 110.8 billion cubic meters of gas were supplied to consumers since the beginning of the year," the company said in a statement.

According to the company, the demand for the Russian gas has significantly increased in Western and Central Europe. In particular, the exports to Germany grew by 16.4 percent, to Austria by 74.2 percent, to Slovakia by 27.7 percent, to the Czech Republic by 27.1 percent. Besides, the exports to Turkey grew by 23.4 percent, while the exports to the Southern and Southeast Europe also exceeded the last year's figures. For example, the exports to Hungary grew by 25.9 percent, to Serbia by 45.3 percent, to Bulgaria by 12 percent, to Greece by 12.2 percent, to Macedonia by 70.6 percent.

In early July, Alexander Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Gazprom's management committee, said that the company may export 180 billion cubic meters of gas to non-CIS states in 2017.

In 2016, Gazprom increased gas supplies to by 12.5 percent to more than 179.3 billion cubic meters, setting a historical record.
