MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's Gazprom energy giant is offering Ukraine's Naftogaz firm to settle the question regarding the prepayment issue, concerns regarding which have been expressed by the Ukrainian side, without signing an additional deal, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Wednesday.
"Gazprom offers Naftogaz to exchange mutual letters that would respond to Naftogaz's questions and concerns regarding prepayment," Novak told reporters.
According to the minister, Naftogaz insists on signing an additional agreement to the contract, as fears that Russia would not deliver gas for the prepaid amount, or would deliver insufficient volumes.
"Gazprom strongly opposes this [signing an additional agreement], and the Russian Ministry of Energy supports the position of Gazprom," Novak said.
