Russian Helicopters to Deliver Mi-8 Parts to Peruvian Air Force Starting 2017

The Russian Helicopters holding won a tender for supplying the Peruvian Air Force with parts for Mi-8 helicopters and will begin deliveries in 2017, the company's deputy CEO, Grigory Kozlov, said Friday.

ENGELS (Russia) (Sputnik) — According to the deputy CEO, the new contracts will help obstruct the spread of counterfeit parts that put crew and aircraft safety at risk.

"In September 2016, the holding won another tender for delivering spare parts for Mi-8/17 helicopters to the Peruvian Air Force. After signing the corresponding contracts, Peru will start receiving spare parts directly from the manufacturer of the helicopters in the beginning of 2017," Kozlov told reporters.

According to Russian Helicopters company, over 400 Russia-made helicopters are currently being operated in Latin America and the Caribbean. The most popular models are those of the Mil Mi-8/17 series, amounting to 320 units.
