WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Boeing’s purchase of Liquid Robotics follows a 2014 agreement to integrate the Wave Glider with Boeing sensors on satellites, aircraft and submarines, according to the release.
"With Liquid Robotics’ innovative technology and Boeing’s leading intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance solutions, we are helping our customers address maritime challenges in ways that make existing platforms smarter," Boeing Defense, Space and Security President Leanne Caret said in the release.
The release described Wave Glider as the first autonomous ocean robot that is powered exclusively with energy from the sun and waves.
In the future, Liquid Robotics will operate as a subsidiary of Boeing, the release added.
