Dow Jones Industrial Average Closes Above 19,000 for First Time Ever
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — At the closing bell, the Dow was up some 65 points at 19,191, compared to 19,123 during the previous close.

US multinational banking company Goldman Sachs contributed the most gains, according to media reports.

On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Steven Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs partner, to be the next US Treasury Secretary.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index both fell on Thursday. The S&P dropped 0.4 percent, closing at 2,191 and the Nasdaq went down 1.36 percent to close at 5,251.
