MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Thursday, a delegation of Chinese officials headed by vice premier Ma Kai arrived in London with a two-day visit for talks with UK leadership.
"I am determined that as we leave the European Union, we build a truly global Britain that is open for business. As we take the next step in this golden era of relations between the UK and China, I am excited about the opportunities for expanding trade and investment between our two countries," May said, as quoted by The Guardian newspaper.
According to the media outlet, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond will try to secure Chinese investment in over $6.2 billion worth in infrastructure and property schemes in England's north.
The Chinese officials visit London within the eighth UK-China Economic and Financial Dialogue.
