Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that the presidential elections in the United States will not influence Russia's economy and ruble.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The outcome of the presidential elections in the United States will not have a serious impact on Russia's economy and ruble, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Republican candidate Donald Trump won the US presidential elections despite most of the analysts and opinion polls predicting his defeat to Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton.

"The outcome of the US elections is a global-scale event that trade and financial markets react to by volatility… [However,] Russian financial markets, as we see, have shown a reserved reaction to the event," Siluanov said.
