According to reports, representative office of Russian Railways will soon open in Iran.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) A representative office of Russian Railways, a state transportation and infrastructure managing firm, will soon open in Iran, the company said on Tuesday.

"A representative has been appointed. The registration of the representative office is being finalized," the company confirmed to RIA Novosti, saying the outpost would help implement projects in the Islamic Republic.

Russia’s public railroad company already has 11 overseas outposts – in Hungary, Germany, France, Poland, Slovakia, China, North Korea, Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia and Finland.

In Iran, Russian Railways was awarded a $1.30-billion electrification contract for a railway line between the cities of Garmsar and Incha-Burun.
