Moscow and Cairo might be probably preparing to ink a deal on the construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt in December.

CAIRO (Sputnik) — Russia's Rosatom nuclear energy corporation could sign a contract on the construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt in December 2016, the Egyptian press reported Wednesday.

"Government sources said that the Russian company will complete the verification of data and characteristics of the site next month, in preparation for the signing of a commercial contract for the construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant in December," Egypt's economic newspaper Al Bursa said.

The publication's sources said that all legal and financial points have been settled with Russia and a detailed report on the results of the last negotiations has been submitted to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi.

Russia and Egypt signed an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the Dabaa NPP, consisting of four nuclear power units, 1,200 megawatt (MW) each, on the Mediterranean Sea coast in November 2015. It is set to become the largest construction project carried out by Russia and Egypt since the Aswan Dam.
