MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Addressing the parliamentary foreign affairs select committee, Johnson said:
"I think the term 'Single Market' is increasingly useless. We are going to get a deal that would be of huge value, and possibly greater value."
Citing the former Bank of England governor, the diplomat said "it doesn't make economic sense for Europe" to punish the United Kingdom's financial services.
"There are many countries… that sell very effectively into the single market, and that is certainly what we will do," he stressed.
On June 23, the nationwide referendum on EU membership was held in the United Kingdom, in which 51.9 percent of voters said the country should leave the bloc. UK Prime Minister Theresa May promised to start the procedure of leaving the European Union by the end of March 2017.
