Cuba, Russia Sign Agreement on Peaceful Nuclear Cooperation

Russian state nuclear agency Rosatom and Cuba's Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment on Tuesday signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of peaceful atomic energy use on the sidelines of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference in Vienna.

VIENNA (Sputnik) — The deal, laying the basis for further Russian-Cuban cooperation in different fields of peaceful atomic energy use, from agriculture to training nuclear specialists, was signed by Rosatom Deputy CEO for International Relations Nikolai Spassky and Cuban Deputy Science Minister Jose Fidel Santana.

Special coordinating committees and bilateral working groups will be created to facilitate the implementation of the agreement.

The 60th International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference kicked off on Monday in Austria's capital Vienna.
