Russia Expects No Agreement on Oil Output Freeze at OPEC Talks in Algeria

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak does not expect an agreement on oil output freezing at the upcoming informal meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Algeria.

RUSSKY ISLAND (Sputnik) – On September 26-28, representatives of 73 member states of the International Energy Forum (IEF) are set to meet in the Algerian capital to discuss oil-related issues. OPEC members are expected to hold informal consultations on the sidelines of the IEF summit.

"Such issues are prepared for thoroughly and ahead of time," Novak told journalists on Friday when asked about oil output freeze, adding that at the upcoming informal OPEC meeting "we will be able to discuss the current situation, it’s only the first stage."

Earlier on Friday, Novak said that he plans to take part in the informal OPEC meeting.
