Russian state company Rosatom’s subsidiary RAOS Project Oy and France's Alstom Power Systems signed a supply contract on the turbine generator for Hanhikivi 1 nuclear plant to be constructed in Finland, Rosatom's affiliate Rusatom Energy International said in an official press release Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The deal was signed on July 28 in Moscow by Vadim Ryabov, CEO of RAOS Project Oy and Alina Haapalainen-Kamenev, member of the board of directors at RAOS Project Oy, and Nicolas Moulin, General Manager for Western Europe Region Sales, Alstom Power Systems.

According to the contract, Alstom Power System is to supply most parts of the equipment for the turbine island during next seven years.

The Hanhikivi nuclear power plant is being constructed using Russian technology in Pyhajoki, region of Northern Ostrobothnia for Finnish consortium Fennovoima. The beginning of its’ commercial operation is planned for 2024.

The turbine generator is one of the main parts of the nuclear power plant. It converts steam energy produced by reactor plant into the electricity.
