    Fivefold Improvement: Russian Trade With Algeria Reaches 1 Bln Dollars

    Trade between Russia and Algeria is expected to grow in the coming years, Algerian Ambassador to Russia Smail Allaoua said Monday, stressing that the figures have grown significantly recently.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Allaoua was speaking at the press conference organized by Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency dedicated to the Africa Day celebration.

    "Trade between Russia and Algeria has grown <…> consistently for the past years. Only five years ago it stood at just 200 million dollars, now it stands at 1 billion dollars, and we are expecting better figures in the coming years," Allaoua said.

    The Africa Day celebrates the unity of the African countries and commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity, now known as African Union, on May 25, 1963.
