MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the head of Russian Central Bank, despite the current economic situation in the country, the banking system retains it's stability.

“It’s of course quite complex in the banking sector, which reflects what is happening in the economy <…> But the banking system along all of its parameters is completely stable,” Nabiullina said on Russia’s Rossiya-24 television.

She said that complex problems for the banks were apparent at the beginning of 2015, but by mid-2015 corporate crediting came to life again.

“Yes, the profitability of the banking sector dropped, but a certain amount of profit nonetheless exists,” she added.
