Russian Railways to Participate in Greek TRAINOSE Tender
ATHENS (Sputnik) – The tender for the sale of Greece’s TrainOSE rail service operator has been postponed by a month, the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) said Monday.

March 21 was the state property privatization fund’s initial deadline for the sale of TrainOSE assets. Greek media cited informed sources as saying the sale of TrainOSE and the carriage maintenance company Rosco would face delays from one to three months.

"The deadline for applications expressing interest has been rescheduled from March 21 to April 15. The new date of binding offer submissions is May 31 instead of April 26," the HRADF’s press office told RIA Novosti.

Russian Railways to Pursue Plan on Greek Assets Privatization
The deadline for binding offers for Rosco’s rolling stock has also been postponed from March 28 to May 31, the fund said.

Last summer’s multibillion-dollar bailout deal to revive the ailing Greek economy stipulates the privatization of a number of Greek public assets, including its rail infrastructure, among other austerity measures.

Representatives from the Russian Railways company reportedly visited Greece last week, allegedly to make preparations to take part in the purchase of TrainOSE.
