Gazprom sold more than three quarters of the whole volume offered to the Baltic countris.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia’s gas giant Gazprom sold 420 million cubic meters of gas to countries in the Baltic region, the company’s subsidiary said Friday in a statement.

"The auction of OOO Gazprom Export for sales of natural gas for the Baltic States conducted from the 15th till the 17th of March 2016, has been successfully finalized. As a result of the auction, deals for 80 lots with 6 clients were concluded, with a total volume of over 420 mcm being sold," the statement reads.

The auction supplements the scheme of long-term contracts, according to the Russian company.

Gazprom managed to sell over three quarters of the whole volume offered for the Baltics, as well as earn additional revenues, according to the document.

The oil and gas company first tested the new auction mechanism of gas delivered via the Nord Stream gas pipeline in September 2015.

Russian gas deliveries to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia within the first six months of 2015 stood at 1,185 billion, 375 million and 284 million cubic meters, respectively.
