"Unfortunately, this volume was reached on account of Russian exports, although the range of supplied goods must be diversified," Rogozin said at a session of the Russian-Iraqi Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Research and Technological Cooperation.
Moscow and Baghdad should develop their trade beyond energy cooperation and advance into industrial and transport technologies, and "create the necessary infrastructure that will help Iraq develop as a united country," he added.
"Our plans are fairly ambitious, new interesting projects emerged in the area of exploration, agriculture, transportation, education and health," Rogozin said.
He noted that, prior to the intergovernmental meeting, industrial, transport, energy and other groups had signed a range of agreements.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari, co-chair of the session, confirmed Baghdad’s intent to develop and diversify its cooperation with Russia.
