Moscow agrees with Cairo's intention to sign Dabaa nuclear power plant contracts as soon as possible, Russia's ambassador to Egypt said.

CAIRO (Sputnik) – Egypt has called on Russia to immediately sign contracts on the construction of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, the first in Egypt, Russian Ambassador to Egypt Sergei Kirpichenko said.

“The Egyptians are strongly insisting that it [the date of signing the contract] must be as early as possible because this is Egyptian President [Abdel] Sisi’s slogan. The Russian side agrees with this conception,” Kirpichenko told RIA Novosti in an interview.

Russia and Egypt signed an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant on the Mediterranean Sea in November 2015. This will be the largest construction job between Russia and Egypt since the Aswan Dam.
