CAIRO (Sputnik) — The Chinese leader stressed in particular that the humanitarian aid to Syria would begin right after a proper ceasefire was established in the country following the start of a political dialogue.

He also called on all the sides involved in conflicts in Middle East and Northern Africa to engage in a dialogue and concentrate on efforts aimed at the political settlement.

"This year, China will provide humanitarian assistance to Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya and Yemen in the amount of 230 million yuan [some $35 million]," Xi said at the Arab League’s headquarters in Cairo.
