MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Sardashti said that one country alone could not violate global regulations on the passage of tankers through international and territorial waters.
"In the current conditions, and even after the severed diplomatic ties with Djibouti, Iran has dispatched about 8 giant oil tankers to the Mediterranean region through Mandeb Strait in a month," Nasrollah Sardashti told Mehr News.
In early January, a diplomatic row erupted in the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia severing diplomatic ties with Iran. The crisis came after protesters stormed the Saudi Arabian embassy in Tehran in response to Riyadh's execution of a prominent Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr.
Saudi Arabia was joined by several countries in the region, including Bahrain, Sudan and Djibouti.
