MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to Izvestia, Netflix will first be available on Smart TV.

"We hope that there will be more licensed content in Russia, and with the advent of Netflix people will start to get used to the consumer subscription model. It is known that in Russia there is a higher demand for purchases than subscription. If Netflix is able to offer good content and good service, Russian users could get used to the subscription model," LG Electronics Smart TV Manager Vitaliy Svistunov told Izvestia.

Netflix is a subscription-based movie and television program rental service that offers media to subscribers primarily via online streaming. The service is available in North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and parts of Europe.

The company was founded in 1997 in California.

Netflix has over 60 million subscribers in over 40 countries.
