MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The oil company does not have plans to expand its filling station chain across Europe, according to Alekperov. LUKoil's current strategy only stipulates expansion of the company's upstream operations, he added.
"At the moment, our assets in Lithuania and Latvia, where anti-Russian sentiment is serious, are for sale. We have taken the decision to leave these countries at a board of directors meeting," Alekperov said in an interview with Rossiya-24 television.
LUKoil sold its Estonian LUKoil Eesti AS subsidiary in mid-2015. The company's Lithuanian and Latvian assets are owned by its LUKoil Baltija subsidiary, which runs a filling station chain.
