EU Cooperation With EEU Tied to Implementation of Minsk Accord
MOSCOW (Sputnik) A deal between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and Mexico to streamline the flow of goods and labor could be signed as early as next year, Mexico’s Ambassador to Russia Ruben Beltran said Friday.

"The Mexican government is studying this issue. There is no timeframe [for the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation], but it looks set to happen in the near future – hopefully next year," Beltran told RIA Novosti at a roundtable in Moscow.

On Friday, Russia and Mexico marked the 125th anniversary of their bilateral diplomatic relations.

The Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union aims to deregulate trade in Eurasia and beyond. The union came into being on January 1, 2015 and currently includes Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, with a total population of 182.5 million.

The Eurasian Economic Commission, the EEU’s regulatory body, has been seeking to establish economic relations with Latin America. It has signed memorandums of cooperation with Chile and Peru.
