MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Iraqi side expressed interest in importing a wide range of livestock products, food and animal feed from Russia, as well as processed food and feed products.
"Speaking about the possibility of expanding the supply of Russian grain to the Iraqi market, he [Haitham Jameel Alkhishalee] noted that Russian grain is no worse in terms of quality when compared to Canadian or Australian grain, and the Iraqi side sees no barriers to growth in the Russian share of grain imported to Iraq," the statement reads.
On Wednesday, Alexei Alexeyenko, a spokesman for Russia’s agricultural watchdog, held a meeting with the Iraqi official.
The parties have agreed to harmonize their veterinary certification processes and discuss the technical conditions for the supply of products under the supervision of Rosselkhoznadzor from Russia to Iraq.
