A Russian delegation will participate in the Havana International Fair (FIHAV) to discuss bilateral economic cooperation, Russian Ambassador to Cuba Mikhail Kamynin told Sputnik on Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On November 2-7, the 33rd FIHAV event will be held in the Cuban capital of Havana.

“Different meetings [during the fair] will be attended by Russian delegations, including…from the Ministry of Economic Development that will organize a forum of Russian-Cuban business and a session of a working group on the trade and economic cooperation,” Kamynin said.

The ambassador added that the meetings will contribute to Russian-Cuban cooperation, including in the areas of transport, aviation, telecommunications and biopharmaceutical production.

According to Kamynin, the sides will discuss implementing priority economic projects, including Russian assistance in the construction of a Cuban thermal power station.

Cuba and Russia have enjoyed warm relations dating back to Soviet times. Moscow and Havana currently cooperate closely in energy and civil aviation, and are working on a program to modernize Cuba's power plants.
