Expanding the list of Brazilian meat producers supplying goods to the Russian market will increase competition among them and decrease the price for Russian consumers, Brazil’s deputy agriculture minister told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Sputnik), Daria Chernyshova — Brazil has submitted a list to the Russian authorities of 28 meat producers who want to export beef, poultry and pork to the Russian market. Four of the producers on the list are already supplying meat to Russia.

“Nineteen of them are small and medium sized companies, so this will have great effect on the price, it will introduce more competition, and I think the Russian consumers will benefit from wider choice and competitive price. That is why we want to diversify the number of suppliers,” Tatiana Palermo said.

She said that Brazil had been engaged in “constant work of preparing more and more companies that are able to fulfill the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union, not only of Russia.”
