MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Turkish leader noted positive progress in his country’s trade with Russia despite global economic turbulence.
Trade between Turkey and Russia was estimated to be over $30 billion at the end of 2014.
"Our goal is to reach $100 billion. That is the level we hope to attain by 2023," Erdogan said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, where he attended the grand opening ceremony of one of Europe’s largest mosques earlier in the day.
Erdogan noted Ankara’s bilateral relations with Moscow and thanked Putin for promoting Muslim culture in Russia, where Muslims are the largest religious minority.
