Thai oil company PTT may participate in a liquefied natural gas project in Vladivostok, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The minister added that Russia’s energy giant Gazprom may participate in the construction of a pipeline connecting Thailand’s shelf fields to its internal regions.

“Specifically, projects such as Gazprom’s participation in the construction of a gas pipeline connecting Thailand’s shelf fields with the internal regions of the country, and PTT’s participation in the construction and exploitation of a liquefied natural gas plant in Vladivostok could be very interesting,” Manturov said at a Russian-Thai committee meeting on bilateral cooperation in Moscow.

The joint 2012 Vladivostok LNG plant project, signed between the Russian and Japanese economic ministries and gas companies, is projected to carry an annual capacity of up to 15 million tons.

The project's implementation has been postponed over current Western sanctions on certain technology exports to Russia.

In late June, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said that the launch of the stalled Russian-Japanese project was not a priority for the company and would not be implemented in the near future.

Thailand’s PTT Public Company Limited owns a network of LPG terminals throughout the country and is involved in integrated energy and petrochemical projects. It was established in 1978 and is one of the largest corporations in the kingdom.
