UFA (Sputnik) — Putin and Modi also discussed cooperation in areas such as nuclear energy and the military-technical sphere.
India is Russia’s largest military-technical partner, with an estimated $4.78 billion worth of weapons and military equipment, including nuclear submarines, jet fighters and battle tanks, purchased in 2013, according to Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.

"Concrete projects were discussed, there was a lot of talk about nuclear energy. The prospects are very good," Peskov told reporters, adding that military-technical cooperation was also on the agenda.

The two leaders spoke on the sidelines of the SCO and BRICS summits in the Russian city of Ufa.
The two countries are currently collaborating on India’s Kudankulam nuclear power plant, with its second unit slated to go on line this summer. The head of Russia’s Rosatom nuclear corporation, Sergey Kirienko, said in December 2014 the construction of the plant’s third and fourth blocks was expected to begin in early 2016.
