MOSCOW, January 29 (Sputnik) – Giving business more freedom and lowering the Russian government’s role in the economy are the best anti-crisis measures, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday.
“The course of lowering the existence of the government in the economy is obvious, but the best anti-crisis method is giving more freedom to business only without any nuances,” Medvedev said during a government meeting.
On Thursday, Medvedev signed a one-year anti-crisis plan designed to stabilize Russia’s economy. The plan will support the main sectors of the domestic economy and allow the country to fulfill its international and social commitments.
The Russian economy is currently suffering from the sharp decline in global oil prices, as oil and gas account for nearly 50 percent of the country’s exports. Western sanctions imposed on Moscow over the Ukrainian crisis have also had a negative impact on Russia’s economy.
