The international market of satellite navigation services is to become both a field of fierce competition and a promising arena for cooperation, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told an international navigation forum in Moscow on Wednesday.

MOSCOW, April 23 (RIA Novosti) – The international market of satellite navigation services is to become both a field of fierce competition and a promising arena for cooperation, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told an international navigation forum in Moscow on Wednesday.

Russia has taken an important step forward in the full operational deployment of its Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS), Rogozin said. According to the Kremlin, the constellation of GLONASS satellites is now fully operational, providing coverage to the entire globe.

“The future market will become a field of fierce cooperation,” Rogozin said, adding that the global market for navigation systems has been joined by Europe and China, which have “confirmed great interest in Russia’s breakthrough.”

China has invited the Russian delegation to attend a June 29 press conference on space-based satellite navigation systems in the Chinese city Harbin to discuss cooperative projects with GLONASS, Rogozin said.
