Russia's nuclear power corporation has agreed with Japan's Toshiba to design nuclear power plants, produce products and equipment and provide nuclear cycle services, a statement said Thursday.

MOSCOW, March 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's nuclear power corporation has agreed with Japan's Toshiba to design nuclear power plants, produce products and equipment and provide nuclear cycle services, a statement said Thursday.

Atomenergoprom Director Vladimir Travin and Toshiba's CEO Atsutoshi Nishida signed on Thursday a framework agreement to develop cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear power.

"The agreement will enable [the two companies] to provide stable and safe nuclear supplies to consumers in Japan, the United States and other countries," the statement reads.

The agreement says that technological exchange between the companies that may arise in the future will be regulated by international treaties and the legislation of the parties-signatories to the agreement.
