MOSCOW, June 28 (RIA Novosti) - The Moscow Arbitration Court of Appeal has not upheld a motion filed by Japan Tobacco International against a bill for 2.4 billion rubles (almost $85 million) in extra taxes for 2000.

The Federal Tax Service's inter-regional inspection ü 41 presented the bill last summer, but Japan Tobacco challenged it.

On September 2, 2004 Moscow's arbitration court dismissed the claim. A court of appeal later ruled the primary debt and fines were valid, but reduced additional fines against the company by 300 million rubles (about $10.5 million).
