Attending the session of the working group on foreign economic activity regulation, Medvedkov said that the package of basic laws pertaining to the problem was signed by the Russian president on December 8 last year.
Medvedkov also pointed to the necessity of amending certain laws and expressed the hope that the Duma and government would intensify their cooperation to settle the remaining flaws. This applies above all to acts concerning access to and activity on the market of alcoholic goods.
The necessity is ripe to introduce amendments to the federal law "On customs tariffs" concerning the customs value of commodities and bringing this law in conformity with decisions worked out at negotiations with the WTO.
"Under agreements with the World Trade Organisation, Russia will not be able to levy customs taxes upon the cost of commodities, amounting now to 0.15 percent," said Medvedkov.
The current routine, running counter to WTO standards, ought to be revised.
Medvedkov also believes that changes should affect 30-35 current laws pertaining to agreements with the WTO on access to the services market, in particualr, to the law "On banks and banking activity" and "On insurance".
