RUSSIA WANTS TO BOOST LONG-TERM COOPERATION WITH SINGAPORE

MOSCOW, April 13 (RIA Novosti) - The expansion of bilateral cooperation in industry, including in the fuel and energy sphere, would meet the long-term interests of Russia and Singapore.

As the press release of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Energy says, the head of this department, Viktor Khristenko spoke about this at a meeting with minister of trade and industry of Singapore, George Yeo.

"The course at furthering bilateral cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region is the conscientious choice of Russia," Khristenko said.

The Russian minister informed George Yeo about the projects which are under implementation or the promising projects in the fuel and energy sphere in the East-Siberian and the Far Eastern regions of Russia. He also proposed to Singapore to consider the possibility of its participation in such projects.

Khristenko also expressed the Russian side's interest in the joint projects in other economic spheres, taking into account the fact that of late Singapore paid great attention to the development of high technologies.

Apart from that, Khristenko drew the attention of George Yeo to the successful cooperation of Russia with other countries of the region in such spheres as new biological technologies, lasers, shipbuilding, including with the use of Russian technologies.

The Russian minister also spoke about the possibility of expanding bilateral cooperation in the investment sphere.
