MOSCOW, April 8 (RIA Novosti) - Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said that Russian government reduced the number of Federal commissions from 220 to 14. According to Mr. Zhukov, decision to this extent was taken at a Cabinet meeting today. It was connected with the growing role of the ministers in the new structure of the government that has been recently reformed by President Putin.

The rest 14 commissions including that on military sector issues, law making activity, intellectual property protection and Foreign Investment Council "have greater political and social significance" said Mr. Zhukov.

Besides it, Council on Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship will be instituted on the basis of the Council on Entrepreneurship, according to Mr. Zhukov. Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov is supposed to head this council. He will also run governmental Commission on the CIS issues.
