JANUARY-FEBRUARY INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION GROWS 8.7%

MOSCOW, April 1, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - The January-February 2004 volume of industrial production in Russia increased in comparison with the analogous period in 2003 by 8.1% to 1.55 trillion rubles ($1 = 28.5 rubles), a report from the State Statistics Committee said.

In February 2004, industry produced 783 billion rubles worth of products (work and services), which is 8.7% higher than in February 2003.

In February 2004, industrial organizations (no including small enterprises) produced 607 billion rubles worth of goods and services, including industrial production which was 588 billion rubles.

According to the report, product orders for industrial organizations, as of March 1, 2004, with the existing level of capacity usage, will guarantee production programs for more than three months.
