MOSCOW, MARCH 12, RIA NOVOSTI - Russian industrial output came 8.7 per cent up last month, as against February 2003, with a 8.1 per cent growth rate for January and February put together, against the same two months last year. Industry made far quicker progress than in the fourth quarter-year 2003 to catch up with the third, memorable for spectacular success, says Arkadi Dvorkovich, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade.

The industrial upswing is token of an overall national economic progress, said the vice-minister as he highlighted consumer demands rising since the year's start, and increasing demand for the national currency.
