Moscow, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation (MEDT) will coordinate Russian regions' foreign economic activities, Aleksei Kaulbars, Deputy Head of the MEDT informed RIA Novosti.

"The MEDT will be approved in this capacity after the law "On State Regulation of Foreign Economic Activities" comes into force" - the Vice Minister pointed out.

The draft law is now being finalized, Mr. Kaulbars said.

According to him, apart from the unified coordinating centre to regulate foreign economic activities in the country, "coordinating bodies attached to the Ministry" will work in the regions, and the MEDT will implement its regulatory functions via these institutions.

Now the regions are carrying out their foreign economic activities individually, dealing mostly with border areas, the Vice Minister said.

On the basis of consultations and discussions with the regions, he emphasized, the unified coordinating centre will elaborate an individual and most beneficial line of foreign economic activities for each region.

Currently, energy resources constitute the main kind of goods sold by Russia to its foreign partners, Kaulbars reminded.

"The new regulations scheme for foreign economic activities will help achieve a balance between different goods that could be exported to foreign markets" - the Vice Minister assured.
