RISE IN GAS PRICES IN RUSSIA IS INEVITABLE

MOSCOW, March 3, 2004. (RIA Novosti). The rise in gas prices in Russia is inevitable, deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Council committee for natural monopolies Oleg Tolkachev said at the 2nd all-Russia energy forum "Russia's fuel and energy complex in the 21st century" on Wednesday.

"The gas production costs is constantly growing and, correspondingly, producers will increase prices," he noted.

According to experts, today the gas production cost totals 20-26 dollars for 1,000 cubic meters depending on the gas field.
