MOSCOW, February 26 (RIA Novosti) - President of OAO Russian Railways Gennady Fadeyev speaking at a conference in Khabarovsk (Russian Far East) called on Russia's foreign ministry to back negotiations on the construction of the Transkorean mainline, said the Russian Railways press service.

The conference was held Thursday with the Russian president participating.

"The problem of construction of the Transkorean mainline was also touched upon at the conference. The mainline will allow to load to a fuller extent the Transsiberian mainline with transportation from Asia Pacific region countries to Western Europe," the press release says.

Company representatives are holding bilateral talks with the DPRK and South Korea now. "The initiative is on the side of Russian Railways, talks are proceeding successfully, but there's no link between these two states and the participation of Russian railways," Mr. Fadeyev explained.
